Welcome to my personal web-site

I am a Full Professor at the Department of Biology within the Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography at the West University of Timisoara, Romania. My research focuses on studying crayfish and spatial ecology, with a goal to expand our understanding of these creatures in Romania and beyond. I am a strong advocate for interdisciplinary research approaches, blending specialized knowledge with collaborative efforts across different scientific fields.

Currently, I lead PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in the field of Biology at the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences and the Crayfish Research Centre. I also teach Invertebrate Zoology courses. This page serves as my mentoring hub for students and colleagues.

My academic journey began at the very faculty where I now teach, where I obtained both my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees. In 2010, I earned my Ph.D. from Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca with a thesis titled “The study of malacostracean communities (Crustacea: Malacostraca) in the Anina Mountains”, under the guidance of Professor Doctor Nicolae Tomescu. In 2022, I received my habilitation certificate.

Born in Reșița, the capital town of Caraș-Severin county, I spent most of my childhood in the countryside in Vermeș. This rural upbringing has deeply influenced my appreciation for natural ecosystems and my dedication to ecological research.
